Lovely Runner

Synopsis

Ryu Seon Jae is a famous star who has lived under the spotlight since his debut, but the pressure of the entertainment world has worn him down. Im Sol, who once lost her own dream after an accident, finds comfort in his music and becomes a devoted fan. His songs helped her through her hardest moments, and she follows his career with affection.

Her world collapses when she hears news of his tragic death. In that moment of grief, she is suddenly pulled fifteen years into the past. She arrives when Seon Jae is a nineteen year old high school student, long before his rise to fame. Facing him in this earlier timeline, Im Sol becomes determined to change the future she already knows.

She tries to prevent the tragedy that awaits him and protect the boy he used to be. As she fights to alter his fate, their lives grow more closely connected, raising questions about whether she can save him and what changing the past might cost.

Triangle Details

Triangle is mostly a product of the time-travel mechanic. Past FL liked the 2ML while present FL didn’t, leading to an annoying mismatch. It lasts a few episodes and is more irritating than dramatic.

My Notes / Opinions

I found the romance cute at times, especially early on, but the drama constantly undercuts its own momentum with repeated timeline resets, memory wipes, and forced tension. The FL pushes the ML away “for his own good” over and over, creating drama that feels completely self-inflicted. The show also builds up serious moments only to dodge them with comedy or tonal whiplash. The triangle with the 2ML is frustrating because past FL likes him while present FL doesn’t, making the situation feel artificial. Despite all this, the final episode is sweet and the ending is nice overall, even if the journey there is messy and repetitive.
