No Tail to Tell

Synopsis

Eun Ho is a nine-tailed fox with the power to grant wishes. Unlike others of her kind, she has no desire to become human. She has spent centuries carefully avoiding the small virtues and minor wrongdoings that would push her toward humanity, perfectly content with eternal youth and cherry picking the best parts of the human world for herself.

Kang Si Yeol is a world class soccer player and the top striker at his club overseas. He is talented enough to carry an entire team on his own, but his narcissistic personality makes him a divisive figure. His life runs like clockwork, until Eun Ho enters it.

When an unexpected incident pulls the two of them together, everything changes. A wish gone wrong throws Eun Ho into territory she never planned for, and Si Yeol finds his carefully ordered life suddenly upended. What follows is a chaotic, reluctant push and pull between a fox who wants nothing to do with human emotion and a soccer player who is used to being the center of everything.

My Notes / Opinions

The FL is a lot from the start. Extremely loud, nonstop talking, and the first episode spends so long explaining the premise that it just drains any early momentum. It is genuinely exhausting to get through. Her character stays grating for a while too. Too selfish and entitled for my taste, though she does start to shift eventually. The acting is fine, it just does not make the character any easier to like early on.

Past the rough start, it settles into a fairly standard rom com thriller. The thriller side escalates as it goes on, which honestly I could have done without. This one would have been more enjoyable as a straight rom com. The romance and chemistry between the leads are the best parts, and when the show focuses on that it works.

Overall though, the drama is just mid. Nothing bad, and nothing that stands out. Finished it but took a while to finish the last couple of episodes because other dramas were simply more interesting to watch instead.
