Eun Bong Hee, a judicial apprentice with a talent for landing in awkward situations, crosses paths with prosecutor Noh Ji Wook after mistakenly accusing him of misconduct on the subway. Their brief and uncomfortable encounter fades until Bong Hee later discovers her boyfriend’s infidelity and, in frustration, happens to run into Ji Wook again. Their night ends without incident, but it ties their fates together.
Months later, Bong Hee is assigned to Ji Wook’s office, where she works hard despite the tension between them. Her life collapses when she returns home one night to find her ex-boyfriend murdered. She is arrested as the prime suspect, and Ji Wook becomes the prosecutor on her case. Facing pressure from his superiors, he still chooses to defend Bong Hee by uncovering evidence that proves her innocence. His decision costs him his career, forcing him to leave the prosecutor’s office and work as a lawyer.
As Bong Hee rebuilds her life and searches for the real killer, she and Ji Wook continue to confront the unresolved connection between them. Their pursuit of the truth draws them closer, even as they encounter new conflicts, old friendships turned complicated, and a dangerous murderer who remains at large.
