Lovestruck In The City

Synopsis

Park Jae Won is an architect who believes deeply in love and emotional honesty. After a brief but intense romance, he cannot forget the woman who suddenly vanished from his life, taking his feelings and a shared memory with her.

That woman is Lee Eun Oh, a freelance marketer tired of her routine life. During a trip, she reinvents herself as Yun Seon Ah, adopting a freer and bolder identity. Under that name, she meets Jae Won and allows herself to experience a love she normally avoids.

When they return to the city, reality intrudes. Jae Won searches for the woman who left a lasting mark on him, while Eun Oh struggles between who she is and who she pretended to be. Their story unfolds through interviews and recollections, exploring modern relationships, shifting identities, and how love survives in an urban world.

My Notes / Opinions

The early stretch is the strongest, with excellent chemistry and a grounded, mature tone. The main issue is pacing. The FL disappears for a full year after using a fake identity, and the drama drags out the reunion and basic communication far longer than it should. It takes most of the series before the leads actually talk honestly, which becomes frustrating rather than emotionally effective.

When the romance works, it really works. The supporting friendships are solid. The final episode feels disconnected enough that Episode 16 functions better as the emotional ending.

Overall, this works best if you’re patient with slow burn angst and extended miscommunication. If not, the middle stretch is likely to feel like a slog despite the strong chemistry.
