Doctor Stranger

Synopsis

As a child, Park Hoon and his father are taken to North Korea, where his father trains him to become a surgeon. Hoon grows into a brilliant heart specialist but lives with the constant desire to escape and return to the South. He eventually flees, yet the journey separates him from the woman he loves, whom he vows to bring back no matter the cost.

In South Korea, Hoon begins working at Myungwoo University Hospital, a prestigious institution linked to the political schemes that once trapped his family. Though highly skilled, he feels out of place among the rigid hierarchy and hidden agendas within the hospital.

His life becomes more complicated when he encounters Han Seung Hee, a doctor who looks identical to his lost love Jae Hee but denies knowing him. As Hoon navigates medical challenges, personal mysteries, and a long history of manipulation tied to his father, he must uncover the truth while fighting for both his patients and the person he once risked everything to protect.

Yes (2nd FL -> 1st ML)

Triangle Details

The emotional weight is extremely uneven. The 2FLs feelings are often seen as more convincing than the official main romance, but the writers clearly intend the ML/FL pairing as the only endgame.

My Notes / Opinions

A messy, frustrating romance bogged down by bad writing, weak chemistry, and confusing character motivations. The ML carries the emotional side almost single-handedly, while the FLs performance drags the romantic connection down. This might be inaccurate though because it’s been a while since I’ve seen this one.
