My Notes / Opinions
I dropped this one pretty fast. The tone shift, the pacing, and the annoying early triangle vibes just weren’t for me. Even if the romance becomes strong later, I didn’t care enough to stick around. Not my style at all.
Jeon Nok Du lives on a remote island with his father and older brother. He is talented with a sword and quick to learn, yet he has never been allowed to study or visit the mainland. His quiet life ends when a group of female assassins attacks his family. Determined to uncover the reason, Nok Du follows one of the attackers to the capital.
During his search, he meets Dong Dong Ju, a spirited young woman who tries to shoot the King but ends up in danger. Nok Du steps in to help her, and their paths cross again when he tracks the assassin into a village populated only by widows. To move freely without being exposed, Nok Du disguises himself as a woman and enters the village.
There, he discovers that Dong Dong Ju lives in the same place while training as a future gisaeng. As they face hidden enemies and protect their own secrets, their connection deepens. Nok Du’s quest for the truth draws them into a larger mystery that reaches far beyond the first attack on his family.
