Hidden Love

Synopsis

Sang Zhi grows up quietly admiring Duan Jia Xu, an older friend who often visited her home to play games with her brother. Their connection fades when they lose touch, but her feelings never fully disappear.

Years later, Sang Zhi enrolls in a university in the same city where Jia Xu now lives. Their everyday interactions bring them close again, this time as adults navigating their own paths. As they spend more time together, their long-standing bond deepens into mutual affection.

What began as a childhood crush slowly turns into a sincere romance built on familiarity, trust, and the warmth of rediscovery.

The triangles are brief and harmless. The FL views these interactions as platonic, and they never threaten the ML-FL relationship.

My Notes / Opinions

I’ve seen this drama so many times, and it’s easily in my Top 3. It’s my first C drama review for the site, and honestly it deserves the spot because it’s just so good. I usually skip the school years when I rewatch, not because they’re bad, but because I want to get straight to the adult romance. Still, every time I actually watch them, they’re cute and surprisingly solid.

The FL has been gone for the ML from the beginning, and I love how consistent that is. Even with a couple of guys hanging around her, she never cares about anyone but him. I also love her girl talk moments in the dorm, they make everything feel grounded, and you really see how much she likes him, even if her roommate gives her some terrible advice that makes the ML work harder than necessary.

The romance is technically a slow build, but it never feels slow. Their connection strengthens naturally from many moments in the drama, and the whole show gives me that giggly, leg-swinging energy I love.

Overall, the drama stays lovely all the way through, and it remains one of my absolute favorites.
